Settlement Service: Building Together – Settlement & Integration Program

Program Description:

The program provides the following settlement services for various ethnic communities including Chinese, Korean, South Asian, East European, Middle Eastern, and Arabic, Philippines, within Burnaby and New Westminster area:

  • Orientation – orient immigrants and refugees to their new environment; provide support to access various community and government services
  • Assisted Access to Services – provide referral services to various community and government services and programs; help with completing government forms and applications; language and /or cultural interpretation
  • Counselling – personalized support to address family and personal adjustment issues; help with navigating services systems
  • Service Linking and outreach – conduct outreach and information sessions to clients and community service providers
  • Service Bridging – provide information to other community service providers on the needs of immigrant clients

Client Profile / Eligibility Criteria

  • Permanent Residents of Canada
  • Protected Persons as defined in S. 95 of IRPA
  • Individuals who have been selected to become permanent residents, and who have been informed, by a letter from CIC
  • Live-in Caregivers
  • Temporary foreign workers
  • Provincial nominees who are still awaiting a letter of approval for permanent residency from CIC
  • Naturalized Canadian Citizens
  • *Newcomers who have been in Canada for less than five years receive priority assistance.
