Settlement & Integration Program for Newcomers
A free service for permanent resident (PR) newcomers and live-in caregivers in Canada to help newcomers settled and integrated as they start their new lives in Canada. The program provides one-on-one appointments, workshops, field trips, English conversation circles and more. It can assists with a variety of topics, including job-readiness, basic information on Canadian law, childcare benefits, the Canadian school system, financial literacy, housing, Canadian citizenship preparation, etc. Each year, the program also runs a multilingual tax clinic.
The program bridges newcomers to the community by offering informational field trips as well as volunteering opportunities. It also has a social mentoring program, Culture Connections, which matches newcomers to a volunteer mentor.
