Individual Advocacy / Support Services
Agency: Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services Society
Program Description:
Multicultural outreach and stopping the violence and Community Based victim Assistance programs provide culturally sensitive advocacy and support to immigrant, refugee and visible minority women experiencing family violence, sexual assault or sexual abuse and are fleeing the relationship. This service assists women to find a place in a transition house when it is required as part of the Multicultural Outreach program. During their stay at a transition house, the service liaises very closely with the staff to provide ongoing support, language interpretation and cultural sensitization.
Services are provided in nearly 24 languages at the office, over the phone or off-site.
