Program Description:

Provides medical care and social support for newcomers to Canada whose medical needs may be complicated by language, cultural, and knowledge barriers. The clinic provides health management, education and self-management support for individuals and their families and focuses on pregnant women and children under five. The clinic is staffed by a full-time nurse practitioner who works collaboratively with physicians and community service providers. Interpreters are available for appointments as needed in over 150 languages. A referral is required from health or social service providers. This is not a walk-in clinic and service is by appointment only. The clinic is co-located with the Burnaby New Canadian Clinic.

Service is offered in the following language(s): English with interpreters available, in person or by telephone.

Global Family Care Clinic is a collaborative project of Fraser Health Authority and the Burnaby Division of Family Practice. 

Client Profile / Eligibility Criteria

Service available to: immigrants, privately sponsored refugees and refugee claimants within their first three years in Canada.

Registration Information

Referral required; referrals are accepted from public health, social service, and settlement providers.
