Newcomers’ Centre for Children and Families
The program is based on the belief that the healthy growth and development of young refugee children occurs within the context of healthy families and requires the support of the whole community.
The ultimate goal of the program is to integrate refugee children and their immigrant families into mainstream programs and services.
Client Profile / Eligibility Criteria
The Newcomers’ Centre for Children and Families delivers diverse programs for refugee families, with children aged 0-5 and living in Burnaby who:
- recently arrived as Government Assisted Refugees (those arriving within the past year);
- are longer term Government Assisted Refugees (those who have arrived within the past five years);
- are privately sponsored refugees;
- Permanent Residents facing multiple settlement barriers.
